The Financial Education Committee has completed its work for the 2021-2022 academic year. Its charge is to "facilitate financial literacy among students and minimize their potential for defaulting on federal and other student loans." included are some of the work objectives for the committee, the progress made, and goals for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Attachment A contains the potential committee work that was discussed at the September 29, 2021 meeting.

Attachment B is the Financial Wellness Report Card with the goal of providing timely financial education and institutional support that fosters student success.

The committee completed its fifth year of work to meet its charge to "facilitate financial literacy among students and minimize their potential for defaulting on federal and other student loans." Included are some of the goals set forth by the committee for its fifth year of work and the related progress that has been made toward each.

To address the rising cases of students experiencing mental health challenges, Dr. Gene Bourgeois, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, formed a Faculty Workgroup Spring 2020. The Provost’s charge for the Faculty Workgroup was to “develop recommendations on the roles and responsibilities of faculty members dealing with students facing mental health challenges.”

The purpose of this guide is to assist faculty with identifying their roles, responsibilities, and appropriate responses to support and assist students facing mental health challenges.

This report incorporates a definition of affordable learning materials that includes OER, texts and resources that are free or at a low cost to students such as journal articles or library texts, and commercial textbook discount purchase plans commonly referenced as inclusive-access arrangements. Finally, a set of short and long-term recommendations for action are proffered.
